Healthy Schools Campaign

Healthy Schools Campaign, nonprofit organization based in Chicago, advocates for policies and practices that create healthier school environments for students, teachers and staff. Pyramid worked with the Healthy Schools Campaign and partners to take its annual local event, "Cooking Up Change," to the national stage in May, 2009. The event was designed to call attention to the importance of investing more money into the country’s school lunch programs for healthier food. In collaboration with Fourth Sector Consulting, Pyramid orchestrated a D.C.-based media event featuring White House Chef Sam Kass—in his first public media appearance—along with six students from Chicago Public Schools.

“Cooking Up Change” is part of a broader effort Pyramid is supporting on behalf of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation to create healthier food and physical activity environments in communities around the country.

Pyramid led the media strategy, which resulted in stories on CNN and in The Washington Post and Obama Foodorama, among other outlets.
