Since 2007, Pyramid has helped advance the W.K. Kellogg Foundation’s Food & Fitness initiative, a national effort to create vibrant communities by transforming the systems that impact two of our most basic human needs: food and physical activity. We provided comprehensive communications support to both the foundation and its nine grantee communities around the country during the initiative’s two-and-a-half year planning phase, helping to lay the groundwork for communities to take their plans to scale.
On behalf of Food & Fitness, Pyramid created communications tools and messages synthesizing the latest research, and helped plan and facilitate convenings and trainings. We’ve also produced videos that enlisted the talents of young people to document activities and tell the story of the initiative over time.
To support grantees, Pyramid provided coaching, consulting and training to help communities build their communications capacity. Grantee communities range from urban areas such as Detroit, Oakland and Philadelphia to rural regions including Northeast Iowa and the Tohono O’odham Nation.
Currently, we are working to advance the W.K. Kellogg Foundation's overall communications objectives by elevating its pioneering legacy in food systems and sustainable agriculture. Together with our partner, Fourth Sector Consulting, we are orchestrating the rollout of a new body of work, Food & Community, which integrates the foundation's signature food programs and past initiatives, including Food & Fitness. This includes messaging, identity development, grantee support, media and interactive strategy. The new Food & Community program invests in community-driven policy and systems change work to create healthier places where all children thrive.
