Grantmakers for Education
Grantmakers for Education's (GFE) mission is to strengthen philanthropy's capacity to improve educational outcomes for all students. Comprised of more than 200 foundations nationwide with diverse strategies and approaches, GFE is the only national organization representing the diversity of education philanthropy today.
Pyramid has supported GFE in a range of events over the last five years, including the 2007 Leadership Institute, which was part of GFE's national conference and focused on "Tough Choices or Tough Times: Bolder Steps in Education Philanthropy?" We also supported three member briefings:
· “Philanthropy's Role in Fostering Partnerships: Collaborating with Unions, School Districts and Communities,” held in New York in 2005
· "Making the Most of Our Investments: How PK-3 Alignment Can Close the Achievement Gap from the Start," held in Chicago in 2006
· "Smoothing the Transition from High School to Higher Education: Strategies to Promote College Success," held in San Francisco in 2008
For these events, Pyramid coordinated the planning team, assisted in developing the program agenda and provided all pre-event coordination and on-site support. These gatherings brought together education philanthropy leaders from across the country to discuss some of the most pressing education topics of the day. Through engaging, on-site programming and knowledge sharing before and after the event, participants expanded their knowledge, broadened their networks and informed their grantmaking.
