An urgent plea for support
As the sole provider of comprehensive legal services for immigrants in Washington state, Northwest Immigrant Rights Project (NWIRP) helps tell the story of courageous, resilient individuals: political refugees and immigrant survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking.
As part of a 2006 fundraising effort, NWIRP hired Pyramid to produce a short film to bring this story to life—an inspiring account that would introduce NWIRP’s work to new donors and remind the broader community of how the organization helps to successfully meet immigrants’ basic needs.
Pyramid’s video team took a remarkable journey into the world of immigrant issues. We interviewed NWIRP clients, staff and partners in Seattle, Tacoma and Granger, Wash., and were the first film crew allowed into the Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma. Actor and Northwest icon Tom Skerritt narrated the film.
The powerful 10-minute film debuted at a gala fundraising dinner to an audience of more than 800 supporters. Reaction to the film was so strong that NWIRP raised $150,000 at the event alone. The film continues to be a critical fundraising and outreach tool for NWIRP.
